The Masterton Chamber of Commerce last week received a letter from the Levin Chamber asking for support m a protest against the expenditure of a large sum of money during the present financial stringency on the railway deviation at Palmerston North. Members of the Masterfon Chamber agreed that the deviation at Palmerston North was necMsnry in order to relieve the congestion of t rallic. Mr. Graham moved that the letter b- "received," saying that there was more behind it than appeared on the eurfaco, and that the Levin Chamber wM not candid tn tho matter. The motion was carried.
