e The following communication has been received by the Central Chamber of Commerce from tho Board of Trade:—’ Tho Load'd is advised by the Minister m charge of the Patents Department (the Hon. E. P. 1>«) that 'it is proposed to introduce to Parliament during the next session an amendment of the Patent, Designs, and Tradesmarks Act. In this connection the Minister would be pleased to consider any suggestion that your chamber may seo fit to make as to amendment of the existing legislation. Mr. C. J. Ward, in referring to the communication at yesterday’s meeting of the chamber, said that something ought to bo done to remedy certain provisions of tho Act. At the present time, n person could spend scores of pounds on an article to find out eventually that it had already been covered. He mentioned one instance where a man was induced to spend £31)0 with patent agents on a patent, only to find that it was worthless.
