PENSIONS IN BRITAIN
4 NEW BILL BEFORE PARLIAMENT. (Rec. July 10, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 8. The Minister of Pensions, Mr. J. Macpherson. when moving in the House of Commons the second reading of the Pensions Bill, stated that the pensioners totalled 3,500,000, which probably would be tho maximum number. The Bill proposed to remove control of the payment of pensions from the local committees in order to secure greater efficiency and economy. During the past seven months there hud been 126 eases of fraud among officials of local committees—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
