NEAR EASTERN PROBLEM
KEMAL MAKES EXTREME DEMANDS. (Rec. July 10, 5.5 p.m.) London, July 8. It is considered that a conference between General Harrington (Commander of tire liiter-Allicd force in Turkey) and Kemal Tasha is unlikely, owing to tho latter’s aiTogant attitude and his demand for the acceptance of conditions preliminary to a conference which are regarded as imjxissible. These include a Greek evacuation of Smyrna and what practically amounts tb the status quo ante helium as regards both Turkey in Europe and Asia Minor.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
