Robert Thompson, a farmer, living in Barrytown, awakened early on Monday morning to find his bedroom • full of smoke. He extinguished a fira on, the cross-beams under the house, Jind subsequently he found two plugs o'f gelignite. The police were informed, and later arrested John Puzan, a labourer, who wa-s brought before the Greymouth ’ Magistrate’s Court to-day on a charge of arson. He was remanded till next Monday.
