Mr. Freeman, secretary of the Nightcaps Miners’ Association, says that the men at Linton and XVairaki are not on strike, but have been locked out. Forcing the men to use forks instead of shovels was a direct infringement of the agreement, and their usa has been almost totally discarded in Britain. “It is certain." he says, “that the men will never again usa the tortuous bread-and-butter robber, the fork. The matter has now become a federation question, and the men have the unanimous support of the executive delegates now holding a conference in Wellington.
