INFECTIOUS DISEASES
STATISTICS FOR PAST WEEK. During ths week ended noon yesterday, 55 cases of infectious disease were notified within the Wellington Health District, compared with 38 in the previous week. The increases were mainly in the number of scarlet fever and varicella cases. Hospital districts reported cases as follow:— Waipawa.—Diphtheria, 2; enteric fever, 2. Palmerston North -Scarlet fever. 3; diphtheria, 3; varicella. 5; hydatids, 1. Wellington.—Scarlet fever, 7; diphtheria, 9; tuberculosis, 4; varicella, 7; influenza, 1; pneumonia, 3; tetanus, 1.
