NOTE TO BE SENT TO GREECE DEMANDING RESISTANCE FROM PROJECTED OFFENSIVE By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright (Rec. June 20, 5.5 p.m.) Paris, June 20. M. Briand and Lord Curzon have fully discussed during the week-end the position in the Near East, and agreed to submit a Note to Greece demanding desistance from the projected offensive in Asia Minor, so as to enable France, Britain, and Italy to mediate. It has been decided that Smyrna shall be given 'to Turkey. Eastern Thrace will probably be granted autonomy, Turkish rights being guaranteed. Italy concurs in this decision.—Aus.-N.Z, Cable Assn. ANTI-BRITIsiI~DIiIONSTRATION FOLLOWS RELEASE OF TURKISH PRISONERS. (Rec. June 20, 5.5 p.m.) London, June 20. The “Morning- Post’s” Constantinople correspondent states that the arrival of released Turkish prisoners from Malta has resulted in a further anti-British demonstration. I,n tho Angora Parliament, Shereef Bey, a former prisoner and vice-presi-dent of the principal Parliamentary group, made an inflammatory speech, alleging that the Turks were brutally treated and starved at Malta, and proposing that the British prisoners 'be not released till tho last Turkish prisoner was handed over. —Aus.-N.Z.
