FRAUDS COMMITTED. The Commonwealth Bank authorities state, according to a Sydney paper that aotne unscrupulous persons are mutilating 10s. Australian notes for a fraudulent purpose. The fraud is perpetrated bv splitting the notes and pasting on counterfeit 'backs. Two of the. stripped backs are then pasted together, grVing the appearance of a complete note, but as it fines not carry the 'promise to pay. which is on tho face of a genuine note, it is valueless, and will not ho paid by the Commonwealth Bank. The public ore warned to closely examine all 10s. antes, and to see that these are intact, und are not merely two backs pasted together.
