HONORARY JUSTICES’ ASSOCIATION
At the first meetin- of the Council of the Honorary Justices' Association there were present: Messrs. J. Ellison, J. H. Williams, R. D. Hanlon, W. A. Coy, J. E. Jenkinson, R. Bould, F. Dyer (bon. treasurer), and I. Salek (lion, registrar). Mr. R. D. Hanlon was elected chairman. A - telegram was read from the Christchurch Justices’ Association, also a letter from ths registrar of the Melbourne Association, congratulating the justices of Wellington on the formation of a society, and wishing every success. The registrar reported that 60 justices had joined the association, and each day brought forward applications for enrolment. It was resolved that an executive, consisting of the chairman, treasurer, and registrar, should be authorised to transact any business requirin'- immediate attention ~ ~ The registrar of the Melbourne Jimtioes’ Association sent forward for inspection a gold medallion and a printed certificate of membership, which are valued by the public and justices of Australia-. The meeting decided to defer consideration of the medallion question until next meeting. . „ . , Many matters affecting the interests of justices were considered, and as a result the executive was appointed to wait upon the Minister of Justice. . , The meeting expressed the wish that justices would send forward any suggestions or recommendations for consideration by the council.
