A TRIAL GAME
REPRESENTATIVE TEAM SELECTED. All senior matches were off on Saturday, and a trial game between tho city representatives and Petone was played to enable the selectors to pick a team to represent Wellington against Canterbury at the end of this week. The game proved to be one of the most interesting that has been played this season. The Petone team had ■ the help of the wind during the first half and ran up a score of 13 points to their opponents’ nil. With the wind in their favour, the city representatives made strenuous efforts to make up their leeway, and with five minutes to go were successful in equalising the scores. The last few minutes proved very exciting, and in the last minute “Doc" Nicholls kicked a goal for Petone. giving his team the victory by 2 points. A Her the game the following team was sdiectcd to represent Wellington at Christchurch next Saturday:—Full back, Baulk (Petone); three-quarters, Jacobson (Cit v), Shanahan (Petone). Tetley (I etone); five-eighths, Nicholls and Nunn (Petone): half back, Kruse (Petone); forwards, Harvey (Central), Williams (Athletic), Shanahan (Petone).
