INTER-IMPERIAL TRADE
POSSIBILITIES OF GREATER DEVELOPMENT
SPEECH BY MR. MASSEY
By Telegranh—Press Association—Copyright (Rec. June 19, 5.5 p.m.) London, June 17. Mr. Massey was the chief guest at a dinner given by the Association of British Chambers of Commerce. There was a large gathering of commercial interests, who enthusiastically received him. Mr. Massey discussed tlie possibilities of a greater development of trade and commerce within the Empire. He instanced that nearly two-thirds of the British sugar camo from Cuba and Java, while out of 106 million pounds’ worth of cereals s only thirty-eight millions’ worth came from British possessions. He quoted similar examples in bacon, beef, and cotton, and then gave details of New Zealand’s trade with Britain. Ho concluded by urging British trade interests to boar the whole problem of interImperial trade ever in mind.—Aus. Cable Assn.
