WELLINGTON UNION’S EXECUTIVE MEETS MATTERS OF LOCAL INTEREST The executive of ths Wellington Ilugby Union met last evening, Mr. J. Prendoville presiding. There were also present : Messrs. W. Hardhani, F. A. Ijawß, H. C. Buck, E. Ward, G. Jackson, H. M'Leod, J. N. Millard, and F. J. M'Comisky (secertary). The secretary of the Miramar Football Club wrote stating that it was alleged that a fourth grade player, who was ordered off tlie field at Miramar on May 23 last, had played in a League game on June 4. before he was suspended for misconduct. Tho union decided to ask tho player in question to show cause why lie should not be expelled from tho union’s ranks.
Bequests for permission to withdraw from the fourth class competition from St. John's Club And from the Wesley Club (sixth grade) were held over. A player who was last week reported to have been guilty, with another, of misconduct, was identified. Members said information hnd been received that this player had loft the district. He was ordered to bo suspended until he appears' before Ihe executive. Messrs. Hardhani and Homig were appointed delegates to a meeting of sports representatives called by the City Council for Tuesday evening next, when tho Reserves Committee will discuse the matter of ground fees for the season. The Athletic third class team was granted permission to play a match with Johnsonville in Wellington, following a request not to have the match played at Johnsonville.
The Wellington Cricket Association wrote stating that it deeired to obtain further particulars relative to the use of Athletic Park as a cricket ground next summer. Tho union secretary had previously intimated that the Park would be available. It was decided to hold the matter over until the union’s first meeting next month. It was decided to inform tho Wellington Referees’ Association that a referee had not attended at Miramar on June 4 last for a match between Oriental fourth grade A nnd ’Wesley fourths. Tho Tramways Football Club asked for tho use of Athletic Park for practice purposes. It was decided to inform the club that permission to uso tho Park could not be granted, as the union desired the ground to be kept in good order. The union decided to assist tho club in obtaining tho use of other reserves.
