WELLINGTON CENTRE'S REPORT. By the affiliation of the Central Club (Potone) the Wellington Bowling Centre now comprises nineteen clubs, with 1330 members, an increase of 120 on last year’s figures, states the annual report of the centra The following reference is made to centre championships:—"A new set of conditions governing the eligibility of club players in these competitions was adopted for this year, the object being to have only ‘ascertained club champions' faking part. There was not sufficient elasticity permitted to clubs in the matter of playing substitutes during the progress of their club games, and in consequence considerable dissatisfaction was expressed by many of them. It may ba advisable to amend the conditions in that direction for next season.” In connection with the interchange of visits between Wellington and Waganui. the executive suggests that as it has to bo made an annual fixture the dates be fixed in future. The Dominion tournament, held in Wellington in January, although rather prolonged in the playing, was favoured with almost ideal weather, apd, on the whole, with very good greens. "It: can safely be said.” the report continues, "that the deliberations, of the conference of centre delegates was productive of more result than any yet held. This association shortly afterwards sent out a circular ‘question list' to all centres, seeking their majority opinions on many important subjects of interest to nil bowlers, with a view io adopting ns many of the recommendations so obtained,as the association considers wise. That the association lias taken this decidedly democratic stop should be a. matter of sincere congratulation.” Considering .that the revenue of the centre this year depended on club levies and entrance foes from the champion of champions competitions only, the bal-ance-sheet shows a satisfactory position —balance at bank .£9 12s. lOd. A new scale of levies is to be submitted for approval for next season. The executive expresses thanks to the directors ?,nd members of the Wellington Bowling Club for the continued use of their pavilion and. its appointments and their greens on several occasions during the year; to the directors and members of the Victoria Club for the very fine way they shared in the entertainment of the Wanganui Centre in April, and for other assistance; to all those ladies and gentlemen who in any way assisted at the various functions held by the centre during the year; and also to the Press for their continued interest in bowling and its administration.
