BASIC WAGE CLAIM REJECTED.

Melbourne, Juno 1. The Federal Public Service arbitrator rejected the claim of the Public Service unions for a Txssic wage for all adult employees of £5 16s. Cd. per week, as if granted it would involve the Government in additional annual expenditure of between four and five millions. The union, s claim was based on the finding ol the Commonwealth Basic Wage Commission. —Press Assn.
