TREATY WITH JAPAN
MOVE TO INDUCE AMERICA TO PARTICIPATE OPINION IN WASHINGTON By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, May 31. The “New York Tribune's” correspondent at London learns that not only will the United States bo acquainted with all the features of the new Anglo-Japan-ese Treaty before its confirmation, but there is a strong possibility that an effort will be made to induce America to become a party to it. It is declared that Mr. W. M. Hughes has already hinted at this move.
The "Tribune’s” correspondent at Washington canvassed opinion regarding the above and the consensus is that there, is little reason to believe that tho United States could be induced to enter into such n. treaty owing to the situation regarding Shantung and Yap.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
