“WITHOUT THEM, BUT NOT AGAINST THEM”

Tie “Temps" emphasises the importance of the declaration that M. Briand, the Premier, made in the Chamber of Deputies, that if fhe Allies were unable to support Trance militarily she could act c-n her own, that is. without the Allies, but not against fKcin.__ The “Temps’ says: “We hope Mr. Lloyd George will take the first opportunity for declaring that the British Government adheres to these principles.” The Chamber of Deputies, by 432 votes to 166, carried a vole of confidence in the Premier. —Aus.-N.Z. Prior to the Chamber carrying the motion of confidence in the Government during fhe debate on foreign policy, M. Briand, replying to M- Klotz, an cxMinister (who asked if Re did not think France had already made too many concessions .to Britain'), said: “Our Allies made as mqny, perhaps more, to us.” — Reuter.
