AUCKLAND SENTENCES. By Telegraph.—Praas Aaaociation. 1 Auckland, May 25. In the Supreme Court to-day sentences to reformative treatment were imposed as follows:—John Gibson, breaking and entering, at Maungaturoto, a period not exceeding five years; Claude Alexander Basil Morten, assault, a period - not exceeding six months; James Joseph Mallory Ross, theft, six months; Eric R. Marcroft, theft, at Cambridge, a period not exceeding three years; Samuel M. Frank, indecent assault, a period not exceeding three years. Terms of probation were granted as follow:—Jessie Meeske, theft from a shop, five years, with a bond of good behaviour for two years; May Gibson (a sister of John Gibson), breaking and entering, three years; Donald Peter M'Gaskill, assault, three years; Charles Tucker, theft from the person, three years; John Brittain, false pretences, three years; Trevor Napier Peake, theft from employers, three years; Thomas Edward Biong, theft of lodge funds, three years; Joseph Jesse Clark, theft and failure to account for moneys, five years; Ngatiau Niho, breaking, entering, and theft, at Te Awamutu, two years; Manuel Valvor, indecent assault on a male, five years; Margaret Metcalfe, attempt at Arson at the Door of Hope Institution, four years. Freda Hutchinson, ring-leader in the Door of Hope case, was committed to a receiving home. In many cases restitution was ordered to be made, also payment of the costs of the prosecution. David Sander, found guilty of the rape of a young child, was sentenced to ten years’ imprisonment, being spared a flogging on account of his age, which is' 52 years.

SENTENCES AT WANGANUI. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, May 25. At the Supreme Court Mr. Justice Salmond -imposed the following sentences:—W. V. Wallace, who pleaded guilty to tho theft of a motor-car, 18 months. H. Evans, convicted of the theft of a cheque, throe years. R. H. Parmenter, who pleaded guilty to theft and forgery at Hunterville, 18 months. A. Gibson, who pleaded guilty to indecent assault on a young girl, one year.
