ORGAN RECITALS
SATURDAY NIGHT EMBARGO LIFTED.
As the Citv Council is in urgent need of funds, and economies of various kinds are absolutely necessary, the Mayor) (“ij R A. Wright) has decided that Saturday evening bookings of the Town Hall will for the future be permitted. This is a departure from the policy that was lai down by the ex-Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) who ruled that Saturday’ evenings at the Town Hull were to be kept exclusively for organ recitals. That decision was warmly contested, as it wm pointed out that by so doing no pabular benefit was being bestowed upon the public, and a good deal of revenue was being sacrificed. The organ recitals l ad never paid, whereas entertainments that would probably attract large audiences were being barred on Saturday evening, which was considered the best “show night" of the week. , , u„„ The organ recital will now be held on a week night other than Saturday.
