For the first time in history, not a single gold coin was struck at the French Mint in 1920. Tho manufacture of silver coins, which was still being continued at the beginning of the year, was stopped when silver reached the record price of 7s. s|d. an ounce on February 11. Since that date only nickel and copper coins have been struck.
