NEW RULES. At a meeting of tho council of the New Zealand Golf Association, held on Monday, it was decided that the new rules recently adopted by the Royal and Ancient Golf Club, St; Andrews, regarding penalties for “out of bounds” and ’’lost ball,’’ and also with regard to the size and wbight of tho ball, shall oorne into force in New Zealand as from May. 1, but tho council makes a recommendation to clubs that they should make a local rule' permitting for the present tho use of any ball in their olub competitions, At the next New Zealand championship tournament, however, only the standard balls may be used. The Palmerston North Golf Club is sending down a team of twelve players to play an inter-club match against a similar number of players of the Miramar Club on Saturday. The following are tho teams: — Palmerston North .—A. Exstedt, A. Barraud, 0. Clements, A. Seifert, IV. Seifert, H. Young, P. C. Freeth C. Louisson, J. L. Stout, H. Freeth, F. J. Newenham, S. W. Rapley. Miramar.—S. Turner, L. D. Hurst, E. H Liddle, L. B. Rhodes, Cambrill, n. S. Hayman, F. P. Wilson, N. H. Francis, G. H. Scott, A. E. Conway, J. L. Polley, S. C. Stichbury, Tho full course of 18 holes at Miramar will be available on and after Saturday, and should be in excellent order. The ‘'Eclectic” competitions, ’which have been postponed, will now be played at any time during the remainder of the year.
