The Canadian Government lane’s steamer Canadian Planter, is due to-day at Sydnej- from Vancouver. The recent cablegram from Sydney reporting her arrival '.here was incorrect. The Canadian Planter, for wlCch 'Messrs. Murray, Roberts and Co. are agents, is to go to Rockhampton. Townsville, Sydney, and Melbourne from Sj’dney. She will then come to Wellington and later visit Auckland. It is expected that she will arrive here about June 17. FOB NEWCASTLE. The Scales barque Raupo is expected to sail to-day for Newcastle to load for Wellington. .... The Australia should sail to-day for Newcastle. Her future movements are uncertain and indefinite. LOADING AT ROADSTEAD PORTS. Both the Port Caroline, in the roadstead at Tokomaru Bay, and the Port Darwin, at Wanganui, were able to resume loading yesterday after having been interrupted fcor several davs on account of the bad weather. The Port Caroline will visit Napier prior to coming here, and after loading here will go to Australia to complete. The Port Darwin will also visit Napier before she comes hero, but she should sail for London via Panama about June 4. MATATUA’S MOVEMENTS. The Matatua is expected to leave Dunedin to-morrow for Timaru. from which port she will come here. Duo about May 31 she should sail about June 7 for London MANUKA LEAVES SYDNEY. The Union Company’s intercolonial steamer Manuka left Sydnej- at 10 a.m. yesterday with 190 passengers. She is duo on Monday and will not i?o south thia trip, but will sail again on Thursday for Sydney. • YSABEL’S CARGO NOT DAMAGED. The Scales Line advise that- the cargo aboard the Ysabel. which vessel arrived at Auckland in a rather leaky condition. Was not damaged. The barqueniine is to undergo overhaul at the northern port, and will be recaulked there.. Her future movements have not yet been settled. PALOONA FOR MELBOURNE. The Union Company’s intercolonial steamer Paloona is duo here to-day from Lvt.tclton. She should sail on Monday for Melbourne at 3 p.m. RIMUTAKA LEAVES NEWPORT NEWS. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rimutnkn left Newport News for London on Monday last. The Rimutaku loft here on April 12. and arrived at New oort News on May 15. CANASTOTA TO TOAD HERE. Tho steamer Canastota has been fixed t<» load at Wellington early in June for New York. Messrs. Dalgetj’ and Co. are tho local agents. THE BARQUE FRANCE. The French five-masted barque France. 6835 tons cross register, the largest sailing ship in the world, left Newport on March 7 with a cargo of 69T0 tons ot Welsh eoal for Lyttelton. The France was erieinallv fitted with auxiliary oil engines, driving twin-screws, but. these.were removed last year, and tho ship now depends on her sails alone. Tho vessel is now 73 days out from Newport and under ordinary circumstances will be due at Lvttelton in another three or four weeks time. The France is equipped with wireless telegraphy apparatus. TAHITI DUE TO-MORROW. The Union Company advise that the R.MS Tahiti is due in the stream from San' Francisco t'o-morrow evening. A DANGER TO SHIPPING. The Marine Department has received the following telegram from the Collector of Customs at Westport-.-" The master of the Canopus reports that at 8 am. on May 14 he sighted a large log floating in Cook Strait. 16 miles west i south magnetic from Stephen Island. The iog is a danger to shipping.” ROSAMOND MAY' LAY UP. The work of discharging cargo from the Rosamond, which arrived at Wellington on Friday last from Grcymouth, has been completed. The crew have been nmd ofl. It is probable that the vessel will lay up at Wclliugton. THE RAIDER WOLF. The steamer Wachtfels, which has arrived at Melbourne from Fremantle, is identical with the German raider Wolf, which, caused such destruction amongst Allied merchant shipping at one stage of tho war period, having sunk 19 vessels in one day The raider also had 500 prisoners from various crews aboard at one time There are still observable aboard traces of former mountings for gums, showing that tho vessel was very heavily armed when engaged in raiding The llolf was handed over to the French Government at the time of the armistice, and is now engaged as a freight, steamer, being nractically in the same outward guise as when the Wolf, but .engaged on a more peaceful mission nowadays. THE DONALD M'KAY. Messrs. Dalgetj- and Co. report that tho Donald M'Kay will load 30.009 cases of rejected oil at Dunedin for New York; also general cargo. She will continue loading at Timaru. Lyttelton, and Napier, flnallv sailing from Napier about the end of June. She will roach Dunedin about the beginning of next month. NIAGARA FROM VANCOUVER. The R.M-S. Niagara is duo to-morrow at Auckland from Vancouver and is to sail later in the day for Sydney. REMUERA IN PORT. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Remuera arrived in the stream last night from Napier. The vessel will complete loading hero and should sail for Loudon about May 24. FLORA REPLACES NAVUA. Tho Union Company announces that tho Flora is to replace the Navua in the Eastern Pacific Island trade (states an Auckland exchange). The Navua is due at Auckland about May 26 with a cargo of fruit. Her future movements are indefinite. The Flora is announced to leave Auckland on May 31 for Rarotonga and Papeete. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Oaptaiu Pago, of the Karori, i» ashore at. Wellington for orders. Mr. A. M OonviUe has been appointed fourth engineer of the Waihora. The Pampa is stiU discharging her ballast, but should be able to commence loading wool on Monday. The Flora is duo to-day from New Plymouth/ and is to sail to-night for Picton and Onehunga. The. Waihora arrived from Auckland last night. She has Calcutta and Singapore cargo for discharge.
The Hinemoa should leave Auckland this morning for tbe north. The Riverina left Auckland yesterday.for Sydnej' and the Ulimaroa from heie for the same port. . The Stella is due from Dunedin to-morj row. She will load general cargo and san on Monday for Auckland, where ehe is to load ecrap iron for Dunedin. The Karamu sailed for Grejmouth last night to load for Lyttelton. Tho John should be at Oamaru to-day and should leave Timaru for Wanganu* to-morrow. From Waggunui she wiH come to Wellington. The Opua is not expected hero from Lyttelton before Wednesday. The Komata is to sail at seven o clock to-morrow night for Westport. The Kaiapoi sailed last night for Lyttelton, where ehe will complete dischiU'go and load for Auckland. The Calm in to nail to-morrow for Dunedin, Timaru. and LjHtelton. Tho Port Plrio is due to-day from Tltnaru. The Kennedy is due on Sunday from Wanganui, but her future movements have not yet been fixed. The Kowhai sailed for Westport last night to load for Gisborne. The Rama is due to-day from Dunedin. and will sail to-morrow for Timaru, Oamaru. and Dunedin.
