A CORRECTION

We are informed that in our report of a civil action. W. Ryan v. B. Jones, heard in the Magistrate’s Court nt Petone on April 20, an unfortunate error occurred. Tn ;the course of crossexamination of the defendant counsel for the plaintiff asked the question, “Have you ever been convicted of assault?” to which defendant replied. “Yes, but I wns not guilty of it.” Our report made it appear that the question asked was whether defendant had ever been convicted of theft. The mistake has only now been brought under our notice and we take the earliest ’ opportunity of Minkin’ correction. At the same time we desire to express -.nr regret that, through our reporter’s failure to catch (he question correctly Mr. Jones was inadvertently on our part, placed in a false position.
