KIRKWOOD’S PROSPECTS ON BRITISH LINKS.

London, April 19. Kirkwood and East, tho Australian golfers, have arrived, and are very fit. , Interviewed by the Australian Press. Kirkwood said he was eager to commence serious play immediately, and was therefore going to Bexhill to-night to attempt to enter for to-morrow’s competition. Anyhow, the trip would provide him with an opportunity of estimating the strength, of the leading players and tho characteristics of the links. .After his visit to Bexhill he proposed to go to St. Andrews immediately to obtain early practice, and to return southwards before playing at Oxley. His experience in America had renewed his hope, because he felt he could hold hi? own there easily. He had several times beaten Hagen. Kirkwood paid a warm tribute to the hospitality of the Americans and their beautiful*links. Though he expected to meet a higher standard of players in Britain he was more hopeful than when he left Australia. While America-had lengthened his drive slightly, he did not anticipate much difficulty in. adapting himself to British links and conditions — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
