OPENING OF SEASON. Karori Park and Hull Recreation Grounds were in beautiful order on Saturday for the opening of tho hockey se .ison, and play was extremely fast throughout. r «iis is the first occasion since the 19U season that the Hockey Association has conducted a third gtade competition, and*, judging from tho displav given by teams in this grade, it is manifest that the game will have a plentiful supply of good players in the future. The association has also been successful in forming a schools’ competition which will probably commence within the next fortnight. Already seven teams have entered in this contest.
