OPINIONS OF AUSTRALIANS PROMISING MATERIAL AVAILABLE By Telegraph.— Press Association. Auckland, April 14. V. Ransford (captain) and E. R. Waddy (vice-captain) of the Australian cricket team. in. an interview state that'cricket in New Zealand has improved since their previous visit. The New Zealand team was not at all a bad sse, fairly young, and containing some players who, m Australia, with the practice and coaching obtainable there, could get into the State teams in Australia. The cricket standard was baSed on. two essentials—good wickets and keen schoolboys. The wickets that their team had experienced in the tour were not up to Australian standard/for first-class cricekt, though there were two or three exceptions. “Your kids pjay football and our kids play cricket," commented Waddy, and Ransford said he saw plenty of promising material for cricket among young New Zealanders. He had not the slightest doubt that relatively the material for cricket development here is as good as in Australia, but' is awaiting proper methods of development. Ransford and Waddy expressed the thanks of the team to tho people of New Zealand from end to end for their hospitality throughout the tour.
