The Rules of Golf Committee has notified that the following alterations will operate from May I:—Standardising a ball with a maximum weight of 1.62 ounces and a minimum diameter of 1.62 inches; reducing the lost-ball penalty, and increasing the out-ob-bounds penalty. The committee announces fh,-it ribbed irons mav be barrod in the near future, after the open amateur championships have been decided. Mr. Anthony Spalding, writing in the "Daily News," suggests the prohibition , of the use of solid or liquid cores as a possible solution of golf ball problem.— Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
