FREIGHT ON RABBITS
REQUEST FOR REDUCTION.
London, April 13.
Leading rabbit importers state that they have asked for a reduction in freight to 130 s. Despite the reduction announced, it is quite impossible for them to finance Australian shipments. Before it was possible to do business, The costs in Australia must materially reduce the output. There has been a great increase in the cost of cases and trapping and cold store charges in Australia. Importers have lost heavily on rabbits since the war, and are not disposed to take further risks, especially as values here are likely to decline, as meat prices are falling.—Aus.-N.Z. Ca’ble Assn.
