REDUCTION OF WAGES
TO MEET POST-WAR CONDITIONS
WIDESPREAD PROPOSALS IN BRITAIN

Widespread proposals to reduce wages to meet tho post-war conditions include the engineering and shipbuilding employees’ weekly rates by 65., also the abolition of the 12$ per cent, bonus and the piece-workers 15 per cent, bonus; the abolition of the 7$ per cent, bonus in the Midlands nut and bolt trade; » reduction of. ss. to 10s. per week in the case of electrical workers, 20 per cent, to vehicle workers, threepence per hour to chemical workers, twopence per hour in the Leicester hosiery trade, 10s. to 15s. per -week in the Aberdeen hosiery industry 15s. per week to Scottish packing case makers, 18s. 9s. to Manchester waterproofers, 17$ per cent, to Glasgow rubber workers and important textile trades. The agreement expires in May, when the reductions will be proposed.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
