The Minister of Public Works (Hon. ,T. G. Coates) left for the north last nUlit. He intends to spend some days in°liis own electorate, nnd will bo back in ■Wellington about May 2. I' ato >' 111 May he will undertake a lengthy tour of the East Coast.
The Minister of Education (lion. C. J. Parr) and the Minister of. Agriculture (Hon. TV. Nosworthy) left for Auckland yesterday. t Sir Robert ,and Lady Stout left for London by the Athenic at daylight this morning.
Mr. Arnaud M’Kellhr, general manager of the Blackball Coal Company, is on a business visit to Wellington.
Mr. G. A. Parkes, tho Australasian representative for the U.S..and A. Line, is due at Auckland by the Niagara from Sydney. He expects to be in Wellington about’Monday. Mr. V. Waters, of Levin find Co.’s shipping department, .left by the Kent yesterday for Sydney on. a holiday visit.
The appointments of Mr. H. J. Lowe as Commissioner of Crown Lands for Taranaki, Mr.- J. Cook as Commissioner of Crown Lands for Marlborough, and Mr. G. H. Bullard as Commissioner of Crown Lands for Canterbury arc notified in tho Gazette.
Dr. Hertz, the Chief Rabbi, who will arrive here early' next month,' has arranged to leave Auckland for Vancouver by tho Niagara in June. Mr. and Mrs. Alec Campbell are passengers for London by the Athenic, which left Wellington this morning.
