MANAWATU MEETING Br Glencoe. Tile recent rains have left the tracks at Awapuni in perfect condition, and the going will be good for the opening of the Manawatu meeting. Racing will commence at 11.30 a.m. with tho Autumn Plate, of seven furlongs. Sleeping Beauty is the only two-year-old in the race, and having such a big pull in the weights will make her a good favourite. The runners in the Karere Hurdles include Old Gold (unlucky at. Fcilding) and Lord Nagar, both of whom can act well when the sting is out of the ground.
Isabel, Kilrush, and Askari will be the faTOurites in the big handicap. This event is very open and there is pm pie room for a. surprise. Tamatete will be at the shortest price in the Sires Produce Stakes, and in the Woodhey Handicap, Strategy, Lord Astolat, and Gallia will have a large fol--IC>The gGold Cup is sure to be a fast-nm race. Sasanof will make it interesting for the three-year-olds Duo, Rouen, and Listowel, each of whom has a chance. Sunny Loch will not start in the Linton Handicap, but there will be a very big field. Festivity and Earthshine will both be in the. market. Bindle, Golden Bubble, and Nursing Sister are the popular selections for the Telegraph Handicap, but on all sides the issue is regarded as very open. MANAWATUJSCRATCHINGS Eleus/Roseday, and Silver Peak have been scratched for all engagements at the Mpnawatu Racing Clubs Meeting.
