WELLINGTON CENTRE MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE A meeting of tho executive of the Wellington Bowling Centre was held last night in the Wellington Bowling Club's pavilion. Mr. M. J. Hodgins presided, and there was a full attendance of members.
In respect to the dispute between Victoria Club and Seatoun Club over the junior pennant match, it was stated by the secretary that the chairman and himself went fully into the matter and decided that the best way out of the difficulty would be for the two teams to play the game over again. This was agreed to, and by courtesy of the Thorndon Club the game was played on that green last Saturday, but before the game could be finished rain stopped play.
It was decided to request the two clubs to complete the game before Saturday next.
At a. recent meeting of the centre Mr. E. J. Hill made certain remarks regarding Nowtown Club playing a substitute iu the champion of champion games. Mr. Hill on that occasion said that the player in question had not taken part in any club champion game, and that it was a case of "ringing in” on the part of the'Newtown Club. The Newtown Club wrote stating that the club acted strictly in accordance with the rules, .and requested that Mr. Hill should apologise unreservedly. Mr. Hill said that on March 10 he wrote to the Newtown player concerned and explained the position. Mr. Hill said that that was the explanation, and he left the matter in the hands of the centre. Several members considered that it a as not unfair comment on the part of Mr. Hill. It was pointed out that the contest was really initiated by Mr. Hill, and castiron rules were provideel. It was the general belief that a player, whether a substitute or not, must have played six games. It was pointed out that the Newtown Club acted in accordance with the rules published at the time. Mr. S. H. Underwood, delegate fiom the Newtown Club, under instructions from his club, stated that the matter was discussed by the club at a s P meeting. PAST AND PRESENT MEMBERS. Tho Newtown Club’s green will be occupied on Saturday, April 23, with a game Past v. Present Members. As there are a very large number of exmembers of the Newtown Club distributed amongst the clubs of the centre, the Present Members wil 1 be hard put to it to stave off defeat. Mr. R. J. Barnes, of tho Hataitai Club, has the arrangements in hand as far as the Past MembM-s are concerned, and all of those wishing to take part are asked to notify him as soon as possible.
The following will play for Khandallah against Petone Central on Saturday (all at Khandallah):—Billman, Smith, Crump, J. A. Plimmer (s); Hutchings, Patterson, Burke, R.
