PATEA BY-ELECTION
RAILWAYMEN’S RESOLUTION

At a meeting of the executive of the ■Westport branch of the A.S.R.S., a resolution was passed expressing indignation ad the treatment received by Air. M'llvride, in the Department’s refusal to grant him leave to contest the Patea election, and subsequently dismissing him, as being contrary to Mr. Massey’s promise in Parliament that railwaymen had full civil and political rights. Tho resolution urged the executive to use every possible means tn have the embargo removed immediately. The "Westport Labour and Mechanics’ Union also carried a resolution of protest.
