VIEWS ON CRICKET
ATTRIBUTED TO WRONG MAN.
Bt Telegraph.—Prees Association. Auckland, April 12.
Mr.- Edgar Waddy, member of the Australian cricket team, writes with reference to the views on New Zealand cricket expressed by Mr. Percival Maddy, which were published m the " Islington papers and telegraphed by the Press Association. In many quarters these comments have been wrongly attributed to the Australian visitor. He S ‘"l'*desirei to say that Mr. Percival Waddy’s view# as put forth in that letter on New Zealand cricket are not my views, nor are they Vhe views of any member of the Australian team, and I should be very sorry to be a party to such views. I ire . th V ment that: I am responsible for‘ the letter in question should be contradicted a J earlv as possible. I can only say this with reference to our trip through the Dominion, that we found ever we went your people could not do enough for ns, and nothing was too much trouble for them I can only assure them that a. Australians, feel very grateful to them and will always remember this tour as’ one of the most pleasing experiences in our cricket careers, and are grateful to them for all they have done for us.” ■
