MASTERTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
By Telegraph.—Special Oorreepondent. Masterton, April 8. . The monthly meeting of the Council of the Masterton Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday, Mr. A. C. Major presiding. Tho Hastings Chamber of Commerce forwarded a resolution relating to tho cessation of “marine activity.” It was resolved to ask the chamber to define the term prior to the local chamber considering the motion. ’ The Trade Commissioner wrote notifying that it would not be possible to show the British Industries Exhibition picture in Masterton. Air. R, Brown moved that the secretary be instructed to inquire from other place* os to the measures taken to check the weight of coal delivered to private resiOn the motion of Mr. R. Brown, seconded by Mr. J. Caselberg, a motion was carried expressing the good wishes of the chamber towards Mr. A. H. Vile, who is shortly leaving Masterton to take up a position on the “Manawatu Times.’ At the quarterly meeting held later, a motion was carried that the chamber could not consider a proposal to amalgamate with the Progressive League, but' that the members of that body would lie welcomed as members of the chamber.
