TOWN PLANNING ASSOCIATION

At q meeting of the executive of the Town Planning Association on Thursday night the following resolutions were passed unanimously“ That the City Council be urged to erect street names on all streets, and to renovate the existing street signs of the city, many of vrffich are at present illegible, causing considerable confusion and trouble, particularly to visitors, and that it further be suggested that on the shades of the street lights thffi'e be written the numbers of the houses in such block.” It was pointed out that in some of the suburbs it is most difficult for a stranger to find his way about owing to the lack of proper street ..directions, and the association felt that this state of affairs could bo remedied at comparatively small cost to the city.

"This association is of the opinion that the practice of mixing cement on the asphalt footpaths of the city should be prohibited by by-law, as it is the cause of many footpaths becoming unsightly.” "That the City Council be urged to en•ict a by-law making it an offence -to break'’ bottles on any public thoroughfare or the various beaches, dr should such power be already nt the disposal of the council then that it should be immediately and rigidly enforced.” It was urged that not only do motorists suffer from the broken-bottle trouble, but barefooted children run risks of getting seriously cut every clay of their lives.
