RAILWAY DISPUTE
NO NEW DEVELOPMENT.
In yesterday’s issue of The Dominion the fact was recorded that th o locomotive men in the employ of the Railway Department had protested to the Minister of Railways (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey) against an instruction of the Department regarding standing time. The men claimed that the instruction, wits a "breach of the agreement under which all standing time was to be paid for at ordinary rates, and work done as overtime paid for at overtime rates. The delegates to tho Grand Council of tho Engine-drivers, Firemen and Cleaners’ Association held a further meeting yesterday, and at t'he end of tho day the general secretary (Mr. W. M'Arley) informed a Dominion reporter that there was nothing more to be announced. As the Prime Minister was at Hawera, the delegates had decided to allow a day or two to go by in order that he might have fnll opportunity of replying to their representations.
