At the annual meeting of the Carterton Oddfellows’ Miniature Rifle Club the balance-sheet showed a credit of £2 Bs. Mr. G. W 7 . Busby was elected patron, J. B. Bairstow president, and Mr. R J Wallis secretary and treasurer. Messre. W. H. Whyte C. Stevens, J. Leniham, W. J. Churchill, G. Trask, C. J De Lacey, G. W. Busby, and D. Feast were appointed a committee, and Mosses. Churchill and De Lacey delegates to the association. Messrs. Leniham and Churchill were elected handicappers, and. Mr. J. B. Bairstow referee. Several new members were elected, and trophies were promised for competition during the year. . The King’s Prize winner at 1 rentham recently, Mr. E. E. Vennell, of Te Wharau, leaves shortly to compete at the Bisley meeting. The Carterton Croquet Club officially closed the season on Thursday, when an all-day competition was held for a trophy presented by Mrs. J. Gayfer, which was won by Mrs. Feast. In the B section Mrs. Knutson’s trophy was won by Mrs. Gayfer. The doubles competition for the season was won by Mesdames Wise and Slater, and Mrs. Knutson won the championshii> singles contest. A trophy presented by Mrs. Pink was won by Mrs. Knutson. The annual report of the Wairarapa Rugby Union states that the Masterton Club won the senior seven-a-side tourney, and Greytown the junior competition Club competitions resulted as follow'—Senior, Masterton; junior, Greytown; third-class,. Masterton District Hi"h School; school competition, Mastorton School. Gladston won the Redmond Cup, and Greytown the Pearson and Cobcroft Cup Mr. A. B. Balfour donated n cup for junior competition, which was won by Greytown tor the first time. Messrs. Elliott and Smith, of the Featherston Bowling Club, were defeated J>v Mes c r«. Thurston and Chapman, of the Masterton Club, for the Grady medals, on the Carterton green on Thursday by 30 to 16. The annual report of the Wairarapa Hockev Association congratulates members on th° 1920 season. A desire is « pressed to see an addition to the four clubs that played in the local competitions The membership was 87, compared with 202 in 1913. The Nicol Cup was won by Excelsior A. and the Thomp son Payne Shield by P. and T. the formation of a referees' association Yas recommended. The Norden Cup had not been held bv Wairarapa for some years, since it was lost to Wanganui. It wax now held bv Poverty Bay, and since the annual meeting n challenge had been put in for it. The representative ma tel. .against Manawatu was lost by three goals to one. At the annual meeting of the Martinborough Football Club, Mr. E. C. Wearne presiding, the following officers were elected —Patron, Mr. A. D. M'Leod. M P.; president, Mr. M. R. Smith ; secretary, Mr. R. D. Banks; delegate to W.R.N., Mr. B. D. Banks. Mr. A. Taylor was elected a life member. The question of entering a third-class team in tho competitions wr.s held over Several new members were, elected.
