WANGANUI BUTCHERS’ DISPUTE
COMPLETE AGREEMENT REACHED.
The Wanganui butchers’ dispute was before the Conciliation Council at Wanganui on Tuesday last. A complete agreement was arrived at. Tho hours of work were fixed at 48 per week, to be worked between 7.30 a.m. and 5 p.m. on five days, and between 7.30 a.m. and 12 noon on the day of the weekly halfholiday The rates of pay agreed ou were as follow: —First shopman or man in charge, £5 55.; second shopman, £4 155.; first small goods man, £5 55.; all other workers, £4 10s.; a bonus of ss. per week to be added in each case. Boys’ and youths’ wages were fixed as follow:—Under 16 years, 30s. per week; between 16 and 17, 355.; between 17 and 18 £2; between 18 and 19, £2 10s.; between 19 and 20, £3 10s. It was decided that each worker should have in addition to the holidays prescribed by the previous award, one week’s annual leave on full pay. The agreement operates from April 18. »
