LOWER HUTT COURT
The monthly sitting of the Lower Hutt Magistrate's Court was held yesterday. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., and Mr. C. B. Robinson, J.P., presiding. E Twomey, who pleaded guilty to a charge of using obscene language, was fined £1 and costs 7s, and was made the subject of a prohibition order. For selling cigarettes to a boy under ago Yeh Young was convicted and fined <2l and costs 7s. The case against Charles Robinson, who pleaded not guilty to a charge of using abusive language in a train, was dismissed, the Bench holding that there was an element of doubt, the benefit of which would be given defendant. Failure to attend drill cost T. P._ Clearv and P. A. Mason each 10s., and R. Lusty 20s. For a similar offence, P. Wagg, against whom 'here were previous convictions, was fined <£s, and was informed that the next time he offended ho could expect a deprivation of his civil rights.
Exceeding the speed limit was responsible for H. T. Gillies being fined 40s. and 28s. costs, and the following each 40s. and costs 20s.: —S. Cave, A. H. Con n»ll, 11. R. Peard, and J. Prockier. J. Brown, who failed to comply with the conditions of a maitnenance order wns fined 10s. and costs 7s. For exposing sheep affected with lice, W. Tompsitt was fined 20s. and 7s. costs, and C. L. Jensen 10s. and 7s. costs. J. V. Dyke was ordered togive up possesion of a dwelling to Pio. Perno at the expiration of one month. In the civil action, Mohi Kareua v. Turn Enoka, a. claim for <£s damages for trespass, judgment was entered for plaintiff for lite, and 7s. ooeta.
