GOLD DREDGING

RENEWED ACTIVITY AT RIMU FLAT.

The Rimu Gold Dredging Company’s pontoon was successfully floated this afternoon in the presence of a large assemblage. Tho pontoon, which will carry the largest dredge yet erected in the D©- . minion, is 110 feet long, 50 feet broad, and 10ft. Bin. deep. Its location is Rimu Flat, on the site of a foianer dredge which was forced to discontinue operations owing to tRe heavy nature of the ground. The new dredge will be powerful, and will be electrically driven, thpower being derived from Kauiere Lake. Tho work of erecting the machinery is now being pushed on as expeditiously as possible, a. large staff being employed. A largo area of auriferous ground, is to be worked.
