CITY COUNCIL ELECTION
A PLETHORA OF CANDIDATES. As the election for the City Council will take place on. April 27 it may be of interest to the electors to know the names, of those persons who have already intimated their intention of standing. That there will be .considerable changes in the personnel of the council is assured. Owing to the fact that Miramar and Karori Boroughs have amalgamated with the city, the council consists of twenty-one members, but only fifteen are to be elected on April 27. Of the twenty-one members it is known at present that only thirteen will be candidates. These are Councillors W . H. Bennett, W. J. Thompson, T. Forsyth. JI. F. Duckie, J- Dale, J. Glover, C. H. Chapman, P. Fraser, A. M'Vicar,, E. J. Barnett, W. J. Gaudin, J- Burns and B. G. H. Burn, Councillors A. R. Atkinson and C. B. Norwood are jdill undecided as to whether they will stand. Councillor JHutchison has left New Zealand, Councillors W. J. Henderson, J. 0. Shorland, and S. M. Stone have decided not to stand, and Councillors L. M'Kenzie and R. A. Wright are candidates for the Mayoralty. . .. Apart from the thirteen candidates abovenamed, the following have announced their intention of becoming candidates : -Messrs. R- W. Burbidge, A R. Hornblow, J. J- Kerslake, F. W. Morton, J W Parton, -T M. Bertram, Dunbar Sloane, M. A. Carr, Sydney H. Underwood, E. Vine, Thomas Brindle A.. W. Croskery, A. L. Monteith, R. M Keen, J. M'Kenzie, -T. Reid, F. Singleton. R. HSticknev. M. Walsh, T. W. Young, Mis. Coad, Mrs. Preston, Mrs. Catlow, and M lt‘ seen from the above that there are already 3G candidates in the field, including 12 Labour nominees. The nominations do not close until April IS.
