MAYOR’S LIST CLOSED.

The’'Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) announced ■ yesterday that he had closed the benefit fund list for Mrs. Boyes (widow of -Mr Boyes, who gave his life in attempting to rescue some children from drowning in the Hutt River two months ago. ,I'iie amount received amounted to 4176, which ' wustbeing handed over to tlie Mayor of the Lower Hutt (Mr. E. P. Rishworth), * where the principal fund was established. In connection with the abovq fund, the -Mayor stated that the free use of the Town Hall had been granted to the AVatersiders’ Athletic Club to hold an entertainment iff aid of the benefit fund for Mrs. Boyes. The council will cooperate in endeavouring to see tlrnt no . cost fit all will be involved in connection with the entertainment.
