OVERLOADED HORSES

Sir,—l ' think it is time' that people were interesting themselves in the horses used to draw lends in Wellington to-day. It is a disgrace to the city the way single horses are used to carry loads enough for two or three horses. Horses should be registered, and inspectors appointed to see that they are not made to do G-e impossible. They cannot look eftev themselves like humans. I have seen horses in the city attached to heavy loads being backed up narrow alleyways, and I have also been thin, poor looking animals carrying heajied ftp cart loads of stuff. Surely our S.P.C.A. should 'be more alert> —I am, etc., HUMAN.
