RIFLE SHOOTING

SUBURBS CLUB

The members of the above club continued their shooting at ranges 300 and 500 yards on Saturday. Tho conditions were not ideal for shooting. The best score was made by C. Whiteman (92), and he was closely followed by T. Caplin. The Pairs Match resulted :—Caplin and Lewis, 174 points; Fellingham and Grimstone, 170; Spencer and Harland, 147.

Following are the scores in detail: —

KARORI CLUB. The Karofi Rifle Club completed its competition for the C.A.C. Cup on Saturday afternoon. The cup, which was won outright by the club at the D.R.A. meeting in 1912, on the occasion of its third success in the field firing competition, is a handsome one, valued at 75 guineas. It has since been fired for annually by individual members of the club as a challenge cup, the conditions being seven shots at 300, 500, 600, 800, 900, and 1000 yards. Tho winner each year besides holding the cup for the season wins outright a miniature cup, valued at three guinqis. The weather conditions on Saturday for the concluding stage were very tricky, as they were for the long distance stage. Pres. H. Marshall, who established p. lead over the long .ranges, maintained his position end won rather easily by 14 points, Rflmn. H, y. Croxton being runner-up. Pres. Marshall has put up some good performances in these competitions, and out of five occasions on which he has competed for the cup he has won it three times. Trophies allotted for competition were won by the following members:—First stage: Scratch men. Pres. H. Marshall; handicap men, Rflmn. C. Morrison. Second stage: Rflmn. J. Burns; handicap men, Rflmn. The members of the Old Navals Defence Rifle Club fired the first match of an extra series at Trentham on Saturday for tronhies donated by Mcbbtb. W. Conibear. P Standidge. and W. Harris, also club trophies. The conditions were ten shots and sightcr. each at 300 and 500 yards.
