THEFT AT OPOTIKI
NATIVES ADMIT GUILT. Bv Telegraph. —Press Association. Opotikl, March 22. About five months ago a box of stainless cutlery and a box of caudles of the value of £l3, were stolen from a buggy in a lively stables. Police investigations were fruitless till yesterday, when the local police, with a search warrant, visited Waiapu Te Tawhere’s farm at Waiama. The Native and his wife protested their innocence, and a search of the house was fruitless. The police ’proceeded to search the river bank, and after digging in different spots, found the stolon goods buried intact. The police then proceeded to Motu and accused Oko Waipapu and Wakaroa Wainpu, eons of Tawhere, who ultimately confessed to the theft. Accused will all appear before the Magistrate at the first sitting of the Court.
