DOGS AT THE DESTRUCTOR
A NUISANCE UNABATED. Some two 'years ago the residents of Clyde Quay and Roxburgh Street brought under the notice of the Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) the nuisance caused by the barking of the unregistered dogs which are caught in the streets and kennelled in the destructor yards nt Clyde Quay, pending their sale or. death (in the lethal chamber;. The Mayor promised at: the time I hat steps would be taken tn abate the nuisance, which was a very rerit one, and really a tragic one to those who were sick, and had to listen to the continuous howling of these dogs the long night through. The nuisance has been as had as ever lately no steps having been taken to shift the kennels, and it is understoiKl that further representations are to be made to the City Council to have the kennels removed from a residential quarter. H has been suggested that if the council were to condemn to death immediately all dogs that were found astray without collars, owners would pay the registration fee promptly, the trouble of feeding and housing the dogs for weeks on end would bo spared the city, and the citizens in the vicinity of Clyde Quay would be spared many a sleepless night.
