DOG PARADE

SUCCESSFUL GATHERING ON SATURDAY.

The combined dog fanciers of Wellington held a very successful parade on Kelburn Park on Saturday. The entries, for which no charge was made, were in excess of those of last year, and the parade was well .attended by the public. Gold-lettered ribbons were presented to first, second, and third prize-winners. . Competition was keen, especially in small breeds, and the quality was good. Mrs. Barlow Wills won the special ribbon, for best toy dog, with her Pomeranian oh. Sunkist Billikin; Mrs. Percy Phipson won the special ribbon for the best toy bitch with her Pekingese Shen-Ah-Nu of Ribblesdale; Mr. C. Woodford won tho two special ribbons'for best all other breeds, with his fox terriers ch. Maidstone Showman and Northland Necia, who also won the winner of winners class.

The arrangements were well carried out by an enthusiastic committee, of which Mr. P. Willson was lion, secretary. The judges were: Mr. F. Maloney, bulldogs, bull terriers, Pomeranians, and Pekingese; Mr. Ivan. M. Lovy, all other toy dogs; Mr. A. Minogue, fox terriers; Mr. E. Bernasconi, Airedale, Irish and Scotch terriers; Mr. W. 11. Trengrove, sporting dogs, collies, and nny other variety; Mr. J. Mason, variety classes. Following is a list of the first and second prize-winners:— Esquimaux—B. Hume, one first; W. Richards, one first. Pointers—H. Workman, two firsts; L. J. Ell, one first. English setters—J. Boyd, four firsts and three seconds; R. Leonard and JToft, one 1 first. Irish setters—A. C. Beere, two firsts and one second; F. Taylor, two firsts; F. M'Parland, one first; D. Hooper, one second. Retrievers—Mrs. M'Kay, one first. Collies — J. Lynford and Mrs. V. Bond, two firsts; Miss Hutchinson and F. Brown, one second. Irish water spaniels—J. O'Connell and J. Boyd, two firsts. Bulldogs—Mrs. Hunter, two firsts; A. H. Collins, three firsts and one second; F. Hunt, one second. Bull terriers—G. Bower and G. Wood, one first each; W. Fraser, seconl. Airedale terriers—A. S. Brown, three firsts; P. Wilson, K. Nicholls, and J. Kerridge, one first each;'A; Williams, two firsts and one second. Cocker spaniels—Miss L. Davies, three firsts; Mrs. Taylor and J. Hopkins, one first each; Miss Cuthbertson and D. Kelleth, two seconds. Fox terriers (smooth) —C. Woodford, three firsts and two seconds; 11. Harrison and H.'Wise. one first each: A. Ooh Jins, two firsts and one seedhd; Mrs. Sellars, two seconds. Fox terriers (wire)— M. Hubbard, one first.

Irish terriers —A. Lohman, four firsts and one second; J. G. Harcourt, one first; H. E. Taylor, one second.

Scottish terriers—Miss Withers, one first nnd one second: Mrs. W. H. Turnhull, A. Ballingull, one first each; S. Barker, two firsts. ■ Australian terriers —W. H. Peters, five firsts; P. Billing, two firsts nnd two seconds; Mrs. G. Lake, Miss M. Howell, Miss A. Saren, and Miss D. Werner, one second each.

Sydney silky terriers—W. H. Peters, six firsts and one second; Miss K. Mclntosh. three firsts; Miss M. Howell and W. Steel, one second each; F. M'Parland, two. seconds; P. Billing, four seconds. Pugs—Miss Beveridge, two firsts. Pomeranians (black or chocolate, under 71b.j—Bert Ttoyle, Mrs. F. House, and Miss E x Hobson, one first and one second each; Mrs. A. Parker and Mi's.
