FIGHT FOR MIDDLE-WEIGHT CHAM

PIONSHIP. (Rec. March 18, 11.30 p.m.)

New York, March 18,

Mike O’Dowd failed to regain his lost middle-weight, championship title from Johnny Wilson, the present holder, who last night received the referee’s decision in a fifteen-round bout. Wilson’s superiority was sufficiently great to impress the spectators with the improbability of O’Dowd over recapturing the crown. The bout was fast and interesting, but not spectacular. Wilson received a purse of forty thousand dollars, and O’Dowd received twenty thousand dollars.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
