GOOD .MUTTON AT CHEAP RATES.

The mutton auction sales at Townsend and Paul’s markets were continued yesterday morning, when there was a quick sale at low prices. Forequarters of good conditioned wether mutton brought from 2s. 3d. to 3s. each; hind-quarters, from 3s. 6d. to 4s. 9d.; full sides sold at from 7s. to 9s. These sales are to be held daily. There is no “dwelling" on tho part of the auctioneer, who is not there -to waste his own or anyone else s time. Several people got “left” yesterday, through not being awake to then opportunities. ' The prices were so different from those the public have been accustomed .to paying up till qni’e recently that many imagined there must b? some mistake somewhere. In explanation, i- w-as statrsl that the stock are fair to good-condi-tioned sheen from the Masterton district which are slaughtered at the Municipal Abattoirs the day before he sale. It is mutton that any city ’butcher would bur. of a quality as good ns. if not belter than, that which is slaughtered for Home consumption.
